GEOTECHNICAL FIELD TECHNICIAN

​

San Francisco Bay Area Geotechnical consulting firm Murray Engineers, Inc. has an opening for an experienced Geotechnical Field Technician, with a strong interest in the geotechnical consulting field, to join our team in our Los Altos, CA office in Spring 2024.

​

Job Responsibilities & Details

​

  • Geotechnical field construction observations and testing, including foundation excavations, grading, and drainage installation

  • Preparation of daily field reports

  • Geotechnical laboratory testing

  • Logging and sampling of exploratory borings and field mapping

  • Full-time, non-exempt, hourly position

  • Typically approximately 40-hr per week average (+/- seasonally), with opportunity for seasonal overtime

Education / Experience / Qualifications

​

  • Approximately 3 to 5 years of geotechnical technician work experience is ideal, but candidates with less experience may be considered

  • High school diploma or GED, College course work in science/math/engineering is a plus

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook computer applications

  • Self-motivated, dependable, with a strong work ethic

  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team

  • Enjoy working outdoors

  • Candidates must maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record

  • Reliable transportation (company field vehicle may be available for site visits)

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis

Compensation & Benefits

  • Approximate Regular Hourly Compensation Range: $35 to $45/hour (depending on experience/performance level)
